What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is simply psychological or 'talking therapy'
Man2manpsychotherapy uses two main approaches:
Men are affected by Anxiety in many different ways, including Panic, Specific Phobias, Agoraphobia (a fear of leaving home or being outside), excessive worrying or generalised anxiety (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) or Social Anxiety.
Your psychotherapist, Tim Ireland-Griffiths is dual qualified in both CBT and Counselling. Tim is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
(BABCP accredited) and and also a Counsellor (BACP accredited).
How common are mood or mental health problems?

Counselling psychotherapy to treat a range of emotional and relationship problems
OR
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy often called CBT which is an effective treatment for Anxiety or Depression. CBT is also the recommended psychological therapy for Psychosis. CBT for psychosis is sometimes referred to as CBTp.
At some time in their life 1 in 4 men will suffer from anxiety or depression.
Symptoms of depression include feelings of hopelessness, reduced concentration, lack of enjoyment, a loss of motivation and difficulty sleeping.
Just as commonly as mood, men can feel overwhelmed by emotional problems or experience difficulty managing emotions such as anger, shame, guilt or loss.
Men also experience stress, sex or relationship issues, or struggle with life events such as a difficult childhood, separation or divorce, a bereavement, a mid-life dilemma or a physical health adjustment.
There is a sliding scales of fees which ranges from £40 - £70 for a 1 hour appointment.
Please Note:
Car parking is generally available on the driveway outside the house.
There are a range of local bus services with stops 5 -10 minutes’ walk from the
premises.
Appointments generally last 1 hour.
For those whose income is between £0 (NIL) - £39,999 per annum, the fee would be £40 for a single hour appointment.
Those clients whose income is £40,000 per annum or above, would be expected to pay a higher rate on a sliding scale. Further details of the scale is on the Bookings page.
Psychosis is a much less common mental health condition which often first presents in younger people aged 16-35. At the same time older people can also have psychotic experiences. Psychosis is sometimes referred to as schizophrenia.
There is no waiting room so clients are asked to arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before their appointment time.
He has worked for the NHS, both in primary care IAPT services and in secondary care services as part of a community mental health team. He has also worked for MIND, as well as in his own private practice.
